Midterms/Finals& Cluster Bonding

Since Columbia has full-semester courses and half-semester courses, I have midterms and finals during the same week. This is going to sounds sick... but... I like it! I mean, there is this huge energy and an exciting buzz around campus right now. The students are hard core and totally focused on academics. It's especially a nice breather from the banking /consulting recruiting machine that has been churning out interview offers for the last month. That's not for me so much even though about 75% of the class will go into one of these areas. Here' s my question: after 1 month in the MBA program, why are we interviewing for jobs??? That's just f-ing ridiculous if you ask me, but anyways onto the cluster stuff...

When you enter the class of MBA's, you're automatically assigned to a cluster. Well, my cluster is pretty damn cool. Nicknames are emerging for certain people. Others are getting their 'reputations.' It's all good fun.

My cluster has organized at least one social/service event per week. Next week, we have a school-wide Halloween contest. There are weekly intra-cluster sports events. Weekly happy hours. Pre-happy hours. Weekend trips. If I never wanted to study, there are more than enough social activities to keep me busy. Not to mention a few bars around campus that can easily detract from my studies. Hey, at least I don't know bartenders by name like some of my other clustermates. Anyway, as far as anyone knows, I am the studious type and would never stray to the local watering holes. Really . ; )

Good luck for the exam. One year from now, I will be in your shoes :)
